Sutton Time Bank aims to engage and bring together the community, creating social and practical support networks that meet the needs of many, creating a happier and healthier community. Time Bank members can support each other and the community by exchanging skills, ideas, or practical help.

Timebanking is a way to help others in your community and be rewarded for it – in time. For every hour you give helping someone, you receive a time credit. You can spend your time credits when you need help from someone else. You could also choose to give them to another member who needs help, save them for a later date or exchange them for a Time Credit voucher that can be used for days out and activities. Everyone’s time is equal, so one hour of my time is equal to one hour of your time, no matter what we choose to exchange. Examples of exchanges are friendly phone calls, teaching computer skills, gardening, shopping, etc.

Sutton Time Bank was launched in March 2020 and over 1000 exchanges have taken place. Time Bank members have volunteered their time with exchanges such as gardening, pruning trees, baking, sewing, planting blubs and friendly phone calls.

As well as taking part in exchanges Time Banking is a great way to meet new people and connect with residents in the village. The Time Bank holds weekly coffee mornings every Tuesday from 10-12 at The Glebe. On the 1st Tuesday of the month those attending are invited to stay for a sandwich lunch. Coffee mornings are open to all and there is no charge for these events.

Our digital champions offer drop-in sessions during our coffee mornings. They offer a range of digital help. Do you need help applying for a new bus pass or help submitting readings from your energy meters? If this time is not convenient or you would like some one-to-one support, please contact the Time Bank for this to be arranged.

Whether you have spare time or skills that you would like to use to help others, or simply want to connect with likeminded people in Sutton, this may be the group for you. There is no commitment when you join. Membership is open to individuals and local organisations.

If you would like to become a Time Bank member please complete a Membership Form or register your interest via Timebanking UKs website
